Salah Issues Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad following the uproar from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match following voicing frustrations and claiming his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Team Unity
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the situation. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
